Effects on teens of having a cell phone

“Today, spend a little time cultivating relationships offline. Never forget that everybody isn't on social media.”Germany Kent said.Have you ever wondered what effects  having a cell phone has on teens? There are many effects of having a phone of course. That’s something that actually shouldn’t be happening, for our good.In my opinion, kids under 14 shouldn’t have cell phones, because it’s addicting,it allows teens to talk with strangers, and it affects their grades.

First of all teens can easily get addicted to their phones. We always have our phones with us when we go out or whenever we are.As an example,we are going out with our friends. We sit somewhere and you can see that everyone is looking at their phones and not socializing(talking to each other) or playing games together.(Anderson and Jiang).

Second effect is that we are talking with strangers. What I mean is that we are accepting text messages (requests) from people we have never met before and we don't know them(Anderson and Jiang). This is just the beginning of many murders that we have all seen in the news (that someone killed a girl and left her helpless and many others.)So we start talking with these people who we have no idea if they are telling the truth, and then they ask to meet us in person. Not always bad things happen;there is 50% of that person lying to you and another 50% of that person being actually what he has told you.

The third and final effect is our grades.I have heard people saying they can’t sleep at night so they stay on their phones texting with other people or their friends. They are not getting any rest so all morning they are sleepy and that has as a result these people to not study and get really low and bad grades(Mazzola). They don’t have enough energy to do things, or to study. It’s unhealthy to not have energy to do anything.

For all these reasons and of course many more i think that kids under the age of 14 should not have a phone, because it will affect their grades, their sleep schedule, and many other things. The kids have to think  that they have the rest of their lives to use the phone, but only one childhood, because when they grow up they wont be able to live again their childhood.

  1. Your blog and the way you turn it is very interesting. If I could make one suggestion, it would be that you need to finish your blog on a positive note, an attractive note. But for the rest it's a very good blog. I very like the part where you said that children shouldn't use their phone before 14 and meanwhile playing as child of their age than be on a phone. Because as you said we have only one childhood.
