webs has increased 27% (expansion.com) in the population during the pandemic. This increase
in internet use can leave sequelae such as medical and psychological problems.
During this year of lockdown, most people have been forced to start using the internet for some
actions like work, study, and connecting with friends. But in a lot of countries, these waves are
still affecting society.
This environment produces:
addiction, alterations in the area of the brain related to attention, planning, and prioritization
Biological factors. Studies have shown that the chemicals (neurotransmitters) that the brains of
people with addiction problems use to communicate are out of balance. Specifically, the levels
of the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin were found to be lower than those of the
general population.
Individual factors. Shy people who have relationship problems are more likely to enjoy new
technologies because they can communicate face-to-face without communicating through social
media.
These factors, increased by the widespread use of the internet during confinement, can leave
some symptoms as a sequel, these symptoms could be divided into two types Physical and
Psychological :
Psychological
-Continuous thinking about the activities that occur on the Internet.
-The euphoria of using a computer.
-Anxiety and tension due to the impossibility of using the Internet.
-a feeling of guilt because the connection time is longer than expected or the planned activity
was not done.
-Isolation.
Physical
-Headache related to neck or back pain.
-Dry eyes or other vision problems.
-Carpal tunnel syndrome (impaired sensation or movement of part of the hand due to
compression of the median nerve).
-Insomnia.
-Weight change due to loss of eating habits and/or abandonment of physical activity. All these symptoms affect more young people, and now more and more younger kids start
Approximately 30 % of the kids have access to the
internet (unicef.org). This could originate a dependence in the next generations.
As it happened with youtube the new social media like Tiktok does not stop its infinite content,
this is getting more famous in the more young people.
This addiction came from one concept, the audience is like products and the clients are the
brands that pay for ads, this social media trie that these ads are more effective trying to get your
attention. http://www.rtve.es/
The situation evolves in a way that makes us increasingly dependent on technology, the important thing
is to maintain a responsible use of these and not create dependencies that can lead to medical problems,
if you are in a similar situation try to search for medical help and talk to everybody.

Honestly, I don't like your blog because it is not well structured, there is no division into paragraphs, and more than a blog it seems to me a shopping list. The information you have written is very scientific and for this reason, it is very difficult to understand. I liked that you talked about how the situation got even worse since the start of the pandemic but overall I didn't like your blog.
ReplyDeleteI was shocked to know that 30% of kids can go on the internet when ever they want and if it was for me that's scary because kids are gullible. I must say I do not like the style of your blog because it's harder to concentrate more, but overall other than that the information even thought being very scientific it gives you in detail what could happen.
